CROSSED BORDERS IN KLANA |
| |
The “Crossed Borders” project is a joined project, planned in cooperation by partners from Slovenia, the municipalities of Pivka and Ilirska Bistrica and is a part of the tourist development of the historical defence structures in the area of these three local self-government units.
The planned activities are connected to the setting up of tourist infrastructure related to the defence structures in the area of the municipality of Klana; the medieval castle of Gradina and a part of the Roman wall Liburnian Limes. The project expenses amount to 101,308.50 euros. The European Committee will finance 75% and 25% will be provided by the municipality of Klana. The greater part of the means will be used to finance the reconstruction of the road to the castle in Klana and the building of parking facilities and a load-bearing wall to enable access by car or by minibus. The rest of the financial resources will be intended for other activities within the project: training tourist guides, setting up tourist signalisation, archaeological research, organising the history conference, primary school excursions, open house project, press conference and reporter trails, publication of brochures and tourist maps, multivision presentations, website design, setting up a tourist information centre in Klana and developing an operating plan for the development of tourism.
Fulfilling the planned activities will set a basis for the tourist offer upon which the Tourism Society in the municipality of Klana will be founded which is, besides ensuring increased cooperation between the border regions, the main goal of the project.
The project will last from July 2007 until August 2008. Within this period all the planned activities must be fulfilled in cooperation wit Slovene partners. |
